Elder Law

Ira has personal experience in dealing with issues affecting aging parents. Elder law means different things to many people. My focus with clients interested in obtaining government benefits involves protecting family assets and transferring them to the next generations with proper structures that will permit access to government assistance programs. While Medicaid qualification rules are complicated, by utilizing proper tools for, and timing of, asset transfers, it is possible to qualify to obtain government program benefits.

Ira can facilitate obtaining hospice and palliative care services in New York as well as home healthcare and nursing home placement and admissions. Ira can arrange for completion of a Patient Review Instrument (“PRI”) (document that is used to evaluate a patient to determine nursing home eligibility) and an Admission Evaluation (informational visit to educate the patient and family on facility-based healthcare options).

Certain elder law services, such as Medicaid applications, are provided on a seamless basis through my Of Counsel relationship with another law firm that focuses its practice in the area of New York elder law.
